Free membership offered to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week

12 February 2021

Apprentices working in the building services sector are being offered free membership by the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA), in support of National Apprenticeship Week.

The association previously only accepted companies as members, but has made the change to provide support for apprentices.

Membership will allow them to access the extensive BESA technical guidance library, receive support from staff and attend its events and forums.

They will also receive exclusive discounts on services, including the association's Academy courses and its publications.

Its director of skills and training Helen Yeulet said: "The theme of this year's National Apprenticeship Week is Build the Future, which challenges us to develop a highly-skilled, diverse workforce equipped for the many challenges our industry is now facing."

She described apprentices as "the lifeblood of our industry" and asked why they should not provide input on new technical standards or have access to discussions with focus groups.

"If you are an employer, please encourage your apprentices to join now as the insight they will gain from being part of the BESA Associate community will not only help them develop and grow as an individual but will benefit your business tenfold," she said.
