Building consultancy expands through acquisition

Leyburn-based Yorkshire Dales Building Consultancy has been acquired by C80 Group for an undisclosed sum as part of the company's expansion plans.

The newly-acquired company was formed by building control survey Gerard Marsh in 2007 and has expanded to the providing an average of 600 building inspections per annum.

It operates across both the commercial and residential sectors and was seen as providing the "perfect fit" for C80, according to yesterday's announcement.

With both companies operating for a similar number of years, the track record, geographic location and complimentary services provided by Yorkshire Dales Building Consultancy proved decisive in the C80 decision to purchase.

Group managing director and founder Mark Heptonstall said the acquisition will allow C80 to provide a broader portfolio services and greater value to its clients.

"Customers will now have the support of our experienced and qualified staff to guide them through both the building compliance and the building regulation process," said Mr Heptonstall.

Yorkshire Dales Building Consultancy will continue to operate from its Leyburn office and will see Marsh continuing to serve as a director and principal surveypr, with no redundancies planned.

A new region will open within the C80 Group head office in Horsforth, Leeds, as it begins a staged plan for expansion for the next five years.
