Improving student services thanks to energy efficient technology

02 March 2015

A student library is at the heart of every university campus, and equips students with the essential resources they need to enhance skills and further their knowledge

ICS Cool Energy has recently upgraded a temperature control solution for a leading Yorkshire university to provide comfort cooling to students and close temperature management for the rare books and archive areas within the library.

Adam Spolnik, Director at ICS Cool Energy, explains: “Universities are under increasing pressure to meet and exceed energy reduction targets, while meeting a number of growing demands. Taking control of their HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) needs will allow the establishments to tick both boxes.”

ICS Cool Energy installed two 512kW Imperium-i water cooled chillers alongside four Dry Air Coolers, which feature electrically commutated (EC) fans for powerful temperature control.

Spolnik continues, “The newly-installed fans ensure the library is at a comfortable temperature and capable of providing a safe environment for archive items, while also offering high efficiency levels across all eight floors of the library.

“The upgrade has ensured that the university benefits from high efficiencies and has significantly lowered its carbon footprint. A good HVAC solution will provide a reliable system to the university for years to come.”
