Contract Round-Up: A Collection of Recent Contracts in the FM Sector

14 May 2014

Several new contracts and contract renewals including the Gherkin and Principle Cleaning, Eurotunnel and ANT telecom, and Orbit Heart of England and Willmott Dixon

Cleaning the Gherkin
Principle Window Cleaning has been awarded its latest window cleaning contract for Searcy’s at the very top of the Gherkin. Standing 180m tall at 30 St Mary Axe, the Gherkin designed by Lord Foster, and as well as being one of the most prestigious, iconic venues, is home to London’s highest private members’ club, featuring an exclusive lounge, restaurant and bar with private dining rooms offering the finest menus and the best 360° views over the City.

Exclusively occupying the top three floors, Searcy’s provides catering for corporate events and private functions. The contract is for the cleaning of the windows and blinds on a two-monthly and six-monthly basis with the main part being the underside of the apex roof which was done by a cradle which comes out the floor.

Principle Window Cleaning was set up to complement the sustainable cleaning services of the main brand, Principle Cleaning Services. Headed by operations director, David Saville, and with its very own logo and branding, the business has already proved a hit and is set to grow further in 2014.

Saville says: “Searcy’s is a perfect partnership for Principle Window Cleaning and we are delighted to be working with such a professional business. Principle Window Cleaning is preparing for an exciting year ahead as we continue to develop and train staff and provide better technology for our clients.”

EUROTUNNEL
PROVIDER: ANT Telecom
VALUE: Not specified
SITE: Folkestone
BODY: ANT Telecom has won the tender to supply a communication solution to Eurotunnel, the cross channel transport provider. ANT Telecom will replace the existing analogue Motorola system with a Hytera digital radio solution to provide full-site communication. The solution will be utilised at the Folkestone site by traffic marshals within four different divisions: tourist, HGV1, HGV2 and motorway, allowing communication between the teams and the control centre. Eurotunnel also required a new emergency channel functionality that would provide priority emergency communication spanning all four divisions. ANT Telecom says its ability to deliver flexible and bespoke solutions enabled it to better meet some technically challenging aspects of Eurotunnel’s requirements, a key factor in Eurotunnel’s selection process. Klaus Allion, MD, ANT Telecom says: “Digital radio has, in recent years, reenergised the radio market and has given users the chance to replace traditional analogue radio systems with a more effective multi-purpose digital offering.”
