BSA MEMBERS EMPLOY 11,500 APPRENTICES IN THE UK

13 May 2014

The BSA announced the figure from a survey of its 35 full members at an event held with associate member Barclays, which focused on the value of apprenticeships in the Business and Outsourced Services Sector.

The BSA announced the figure from a survey of its 35 full members at an event held with associate member Barclays, which focused on the value of apprenticeships in the Business and Outsourced Services Sector.

Chief Executive of the BSA, Mark Fox, has welcomed the new research and said: “BSA members are working hard to address the UK skill shortage with targeted apprenticeship schemes. Apprentices are a key part of the business and outsourced service industry’s workforce. They are the next generation of leaders who will help the industry continue to grow.”

Nicki Thomson, Head of Business Services at Barclays said: “Barclays believes that quality apprenticeships are fundamental to our business and we’re keen to support any company who wants to tackle youth unemployment.

“It’s hugely encouraging to see interest in apprenticeships gaining pace; both businesses offering them and people seeing them as a feasible option and entry route into the world of work. Apprentices provide a crucial skillset to the workforce and add significant value to businesses and we must continue to harness and nurture this resource.”

The BSA will be preparing a document incorporating material from yesterday’s event together with a collection of case studies provided by several full members. For more information or to request a copy of the materials, please contact Peter Campbell at peter.campbell@bsa-org.com.
