FMs look at potential solutions to the problems of the correct utilisation of meeting room space

Kelly Perkins, marketing and communications manager of Vaddio says today’s group collaboration requires extending the user experience beyond simple one-on-one interactions in order to support the needs of larger groups. “Solutions have to allow employees to collaborate how they want and at giving IT and business managers the ability to address diverse collaboration needs where other systems fall short,” she says.

Natalie Harris-Briggs, group marketing director at Steljes, says meetings are the lifeblood of any company. “Research by UNWIRED Research showed that while desks are usually empty, you can never find a meeting room. And thereby lies one of the main problems – effective meeting room utilisation. But what constitutes a meeting room space? It’s not just the traditional meeting room. With the high cost of real estate, it is important to utilise every square metre of office space effectively.”

Roland Dreesden, MD at Reflex, says the most expensive asset of any organisation is people. And the second? Space. “The whole issue of space seems to throw up two conflicting challenges -- firstly very expensive meeting rooms sitting empty and secondly, a limited number of meeting rooms where the demand outstrips the supply.”

Nick Pemberton, market development manager for Professional Systems at Sennheiser UK, says meeting room audio systems are often designed by specialist AV consultants and integrators and can be very complicated to operate by end-users, as there’s a huge amount of integration with different equipment, which may involve different departments within an organisation to setup.
