Inviron adds Waterstones FM contract to its books

16 December 2013

Inviron, part of Imtech UK, has won a three-year contract with Waterstones, with work beginning this month, just before the start of the national book retailer’s busy festivesales period.

The technical facilities management contract includes planned and reactive mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance covering the whole of Waterstones’ UK estate of nearly 300 stores. These include the company’s five super-stores in Nottingham, Bath, Manchester, Glasgow, as well as the Piccadilly store in London, which is Waterstones' flagship outlet and the biggest bookshop in Europe.

A national dedicated team at Inviron will service the contract, which will include the reporting of maintenance tasks, through to response analysis by Inviron’s bespoke DNA software, as well as offering advice about energy efficiency.

Neil Johnson, Inviron’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to have won this contract. The fact that Waterstones has appointed Inviron just prior to entering its critical Christmas trading period is testimony to our reputation for customer service, transparent management information systems and technical expertise.

“We are also looking forward to assisting Waterstones over the coming months in developing a strategy that will drive out unnecessary costs, reduce energy consumption and improve responsiveness. We always work proactively with our customers to identify the best ways to preserve and maintain systems over the long term.

“This contract builds upon our substantial retail experience, which includes clients such as Selfridges. We are actively looking to expand our business in the retail sector, as Inviron has tried and tested expertise and experience to support the FM needs of major high street companies.”

Tom Hutchinson, Head of Shop Development at Waterstones, said: “It is crucial that our customers enjoy their shopping experience in a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment, which is why we appointed Inviron. The expertise of its staff in working behind the scenes will ensure all M&E systems and services in shops are operating to peak efficiency, without causing any disruption to our customers.”
