Going for gold as PHS celebrates 50 years in business

07 May 2013

Workplace services provider PHS Group marks its 50th Anniversary this year. The business has much to celebrate as it reflects on half a century of growth and diversification, the establishment of a loyal customer base and makes plans for future success based on a sound growth strategy.

Since its incorporation in 1963, PHS has gone from pioneering the introduction of washroom sanitary disposalsystems to specialising in 11 different workplace service areas, and is the leading provider in most of these. PHS supplies to over 250,000 customers throughout the UK, Ireland, Holland, Belgium and Spain.

The once family owned company, which employed just 200people at the start, now has more than 5,000 staff members and operates out of 150 strategically located sites. It provides a widerange of services aimed at making the work of facilities, building and people managers easier, from confidential data shredding and specialist waste management to entrance matting, records management, interior and exterior planting, water coolers and boilers and much, much more.

PHS provides all these services direct to companies, and also operates as a tier one supplier to the facilities management market, supporting the integrated service propositions of most of the major FMs.

Gareth Rhys Williams, Group Chief Executive of PHS, said: “PHS has demonstrated remarkable growth since it was established in 1963 and will continue to flourish. In 2012 our turnover was over £400m. By communicating to our customers the full range of what we do, and by delivering every aspect of our service seamlessly and perfectly, our aim is to triple the size of PHS Group in the next 10 years.

“The success we have achieved throughout our 50 years is down to ourfantastic, dedicated staff and our loyal customer base. This year we will be celebrating this success and all the great people who have been part of it, as well as focusing hard on the delivery of a strong future for all our stakeholders. Here’s to the next 50 years!”
