Sponsored: 'Access leader enjoys recognition for major project excellence'

02 April 2013

A major new honour has, Nationwide Platforms says, been bestowed on it by a leading international power plant specialist

RWE, which focuses on the construction of power stations, recently held its annual Health and Safety Awards to acknowledge success within in its own organisation and supply chain.

Having previously been chosen to support work at height on a number of projects, including the £1bn Pembroke Power Station, Nationwide Platforms demonstrated its commitment to health and safety through its leading fleet, pioneering range of safety innovations, training and on-site consultancy.

The best practice approach to managing safe and productive work at height has since been replicated on some of the UK’s largest and most prestigious working at height projects.

As well as considering this previous work, RWE also invited Nationwide Platforms Key Account Manager Connie Horton to deliver a presentation on the organisation’s achievements in reducing the risk of death of injury caused by entrapment, specifically focusing on its award-winning innovation, SkySiren.

Having been judged on a stringent selection of criteria, Nationwide Platforms was named Best Contractor of 2012 with a presentation certificate endorsed by RWE Chief Executive Dr Michael Fübi and Michael Robertson, Head of Health and Safety for RWE Technology GmbH

Tony Ashford, Health and Safety Manager, RWE Technology UK Ltd, said: “We believe that safety should always be the central component of any project. To make that happen we require a complete commitment to the highest standards of welfare and wellbeing on our sites. It’s with that in mind that our annual Health and Safety Awards are designed to celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses like Nationwide Platforms who truly make that happen.”

Richard Miller, Executive Director – Sales, said: “Like us, RWE is a company which continually strives for the highest possible standards of safety and best practice. As such, we’ve taken great pride in working closely with them to deliver the working at height solutions which we believe account for all areas of safety.

“This has included providing equipment prepared to the highest technical standards, providing complete training packages, as well as offering our award winning product innovations from the BlueSky range. All in all, we’re incredibly proud to have been honoured with this award, and look forward to working with RWE again in the future.”
