Derwent FM appoints audit and compliance manager

Derwent FM has appointed Keith Rowan as audit and compliance manager. Based at the company’s head office in Harrogate, Rowan will oversee all aspects of health and safety and environmental quality control

He will also be responsible for site audits, maintaining ISO and SIA accreditations, achieving BSI standards, providing health and safety training, and accident investigation.

He joins the company from Balfour Beatty Workplace where he was HSEQ Compliance and Performance Manager and has previously held quality assurance and health and safety management positions with City of York Council and Tunstall Communications.

Mr Rowan has a BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Science, a Diploma in Personnel Management, the Chartered Institute of Waste Management Environmental Permitting Operators Certificate, a National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and the European Foundation of Quality Management (EFQM) – Assessing for Organisational Excellence and Prince2 Project Management qualifications.

Keith Rowan said: “I am delighted to have joined Derwent FM and aim to put my experience to good use for the company. Derwent operates a wide diversity of business streams, which means there is an opportunity to get involved and influence a variety of different risks across a range of schemes.”

Derwent FM provides a full range of student accommodation and hard and soft facilities management services including portering, catering, helpdesk, caretaking, window cleaning, reprographics, mailroom, file storage, postal and office support services, plus furniture, fittings & equipment.

It also operates two stand-alone divisions – Derwent Response and Derwent Students, the fifth largest student operator in the country.
