The Wandsworth Group will be assisting specifiers to understand the energy-efficiency benefits of KNX smart home technology at this year’s Ecobuild at a joint stand with partner company, Jung (Stand N3701).

The Wandsworth Group is the exclusive UK distributor of Jung’s products including their market-leading range of KNX intelligent control and visualisation tools. Designed to co-ordinate lighting, heating, A/V systems and blind controls in any domestic or commercial property, the KNX systems available from The Wandsworth Group combine advanced technology with simple to use touch screen panels. And because they utilise KNX protocol, the only globally-recognised open intelligent controls protocol, the controls and tools offered by The Wandsworth Group can be integrated with thousands of other KNX products from nearly 300 different manufacturers. They are also inter-operable with other protocols including DALI, BACnet, ModBUS plus others.
Visitors to The Wandsworth/Jung stand will be able to find out how a KNX installation can align functions such as heating, lighting, air conditioning and blind controls providing energy savings of 40% with shading control, 50% with individual room control, and 60% with lighting and ventilation control simply by avoiding energy wastage. The end user can run pre-programmed scenes, operate centralised controls or even access the system remotely, making it easy to create an intelligent building that is flexible, controllable and energy efficient.
Wandsworth will showcase the Jung Smart Room Controller at Ecobuild, a new compact, wall-mounted control screen that has been designed to offer intuitive operation, just like a Smart Phone. Designed to enable easy browsing, scrolling and management of complex controls, the Smart Controller features a touch screen and touch buttons in a discreet unit that allows the user to select the individual rooms and functions. Users can even customise the unit, using the Homepage and Favourites page options to provide fast, direct access to their mostly frequently used functions and locations.
The Smart Controller complements the existing Facility Control Pilot offered by The Wandsworth Group, a software and touchscreen package which enables centralised control, visualisation and monitoring of integrated KNX controls. Designed to provide simple operation, visualisation and monitoring of KNX controls, the system can even monitor the percentage energy consumption from different energy sources, making it an ideal choice for buildings that have been designed to combine renewable energy technologies with connection to the grid.
Demonstrating the same level of chic design and advanced technology, The Wandsworth Group will also be showcasing some of its latest wiring accessory innovations on stand N3701. The Wandsworth Group’s new Penthouse range of low profile and screwless switches and sockets will be on show. Designed with a metal grid to enable a sleek screwless finish, the range is currently available in six finishes: polished brass; unlacquered polished brass; bright nickel; satin nickel; antique bronze and yellow etched primer, with other finishes to follow.
Comments managing director of The Wandsworth Group, Gary Stevens: “Ecobuild is such an important exhibition for architects, specifiers, consultants and contractors who want to find out about the latest eco-innovations. But sustainability and environmentally-responsible construction are about much more than eco-products; they require an energy-saving mind-set that permeates every aspect of the specification. By using an intelligent control, monitoring and visualisation installation, specifiers can ensure that their buildings are used in an energy efficient way throughout their lifecycle, making them truly sustainable.”
