New Editor for P&FM

25 January 2013

Following in the footsteps of a respected, established editor is never easy, but - in my first week as Tim Fryer's successor - I'd like to say how much I am looking forward to working in the FM industry

Having previously edited Food Processing magazine for nearly seven years, I decided to take on the role of editor to P&FM because I wanted a new challenge. But I must admit to finding the prospect rather daunting. For starters, premises and facilities management is oceans away from food machinery. Water coolers, AV technology and washroom consumables aren't something most food manufacturers worry too much about.

Nonetheless, I took the plunge, and already I'm really pleased I did. The response from many players in the industry - warm welcomes and congratulations - would make anybody feel welcome, and it hasn't taken me long to realise why my predecessors Jane Fenwick and Tim Fryer were so enthusiastic about the FM market.

All indications are that I'm joining the world of FM at an interesting time and I'm keen to hear the views, thoughts and opinions of facilities managers, contractors, technology providers, and everybody else involved in the industry. No doubt there will be plenty to keep me occupied - health and safety, energy efficiency and security at work are just some of the issues I'll be exploring in the weeks and months ahead.

I am looking forward to the journey!
