Drain Center, Integrated Services in Standards Certification hat-trick

23 January 2013

Two Wolseley UK companies, along with the Wolseley UK head office, are the first in the construction industry to achieve three prestigious environmental, health and safety and quality certifications, it has been announced.

Drain Center and Integrated Services have been awarded OHSAS18001, ISO:14001 and ISO:9001 certification by the British Standards Institution (BSI), setting an industry standard for management systems as the only companies to hold all three certificates.

Notification of OHSAS 18001 certification, an Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series for health and safety management systems, was received today. It demonstrates an organisation’s awareness of health and safety legislation and a commitment to continuous improvement and will help control occupational health and safety risks.

Along with this, Drain Center, Integrated Services and Wolseley UK’s head office hold ISO:14001 and ISO:9001 certification, which display a commitment to reducing environmental impact and superior quality management. These certificates are internationally recognised standards for Quality Management Systems.

Wolseley UK had to meet specific criteria to meet the standards, such as showing an enhanced knowledge of health and safety law, controlling waste and setting targets for continuous improvements that are meaningful and achievable.

Pete Richardson, Senior Regional HSE Manager said: “Wolseley UK has always taken its responsibility to HSE very seriously and has worked hard to create safety policy and procedures that operate within the standards already set by ISO and OHSAS.

“Today’s accreditation builds on existing work to improve standards in this vital area. We are leading the way with our management systems and can provide evidence of our all-round commitment to improvement.

“We look after our employees by creating and managing a safe environment for them to work in; we are also considerate and respectful of our impact on the environment and we operate in a total quality environment.

“We take corporate responsibility very seriously and with these certifications our staff and customers can feel confident of that. I am immensely proud of our achievement.”

Kerry Pace, Client Manager, BSI said: “It’s a pleasure to award Wolseley UK with this certification. There was clear evidence of high standards across the company and commitment from all the staff who took part in the assessments.”
