Ferry furthers scope of FM

OCS has won a £2m contract with MyFerryLink at the port of Dover. The contract covers the highly-specilaised work of mooring and letting go of ferries as well as the onloading and offloading of unaccompanied freight.

MyFerryLink is the new ferry operator on the Dover-Calais route and will operate up to 22 crossings daily with their modern, purpose-built fleet of ships.

OCS’s Integrated Landside Operations (ILO) team has been working at Dover since April 2009 when the port authority outsourced several services including ferry mooring and linkspan operating. OCS now provides mooring services, freight inspection services and supply of facilities services to commercial vessels visiting the Port to two of the port’s major ferry operators. In addition, OCS provides internal and external cleaning services for the whole port and waste services in the Eastern docks.

The Port of Dover is one of the busiest drive-on, drive-off terminals in the world with over five million vehicles and 14 million passengers passing through each year.
