Derwent responds by cleaning itself

Derwent FM has created a new division, Derwent Response, as a result of company’s strategic objectives to self-deliver services across the premises it owns and manages.

Ian and Natalie Sharpe, formerly of Sharpe’s Cleaning and Maintenance, have joined the company to head up the new division, which will operate as a separate brand under the Derwent FM banner.

Derwent Response will focus on deep cleaning, void repairs, light fabric works, grounds maintenance and window cleaning contracts; and will provide services both to Derwent FM contracts and tender commercially for cleaning and void work.

Martin Corbett, managing director, Derwent FM, said: “Derwent FM has grown considerably since its launch two years ago. Self-delivery of our services is a key part of our business strategy and this new division enables us to provide a wider range of in-house services. Ian and Natalie bring considerable experience to the company and I’m delighted to welcome them on board.”

Derwent FM will continue to diversify the business by expanding the provision of hard and soft FM services for sectors including central and local government, health, education, residential, and commercial.
The company is an established student accommodation services operator and provides a full range of accommodation management and hard and soft FM services to over 10,000 student units.

Parent company Derwent Living re-invests 75 per cent of Derwent FM’s profits from student services and facilities management activity into developing new properties and maintaining its existing housing stock.
