Scottish hospital partnership wins top FM Award

The partnership between Serco, NHS Forth Valley and Forth Health won the Partners in Healthcare Facilities and the Overall Award at the PFM Awards 2012 held last night in London.

A partnership comprising Serco with NHS Forth Valley and Forth Health at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, Scotland won the Partners in Healthcare Facilities category and was voted the Overall Winner at the PFM Awards 2012 last night (9th November 2012).

The judges said,“ This is an outstanding partnership demonstrating how an early involvement of facilities management thinking can pay huge dividends in the finished hospital buildings and the delivery of an impressive array of quality services.”

Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert is the largest recently completed NHS hospital in Scotland and it has been hailed as one of the most advanced in Europe. The close involvement of facilities management skills at the design stage was continued in a successful collaborative partnership that has helped to transform acute care within the region.

The PFM Award 2012 is the second award for this partnership. Last week it also won a Global FM Award for Excellence in Facilities Management announced at the IFMA’s World Workplace Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

Among other Award winners was Oliver Jones, Chairman of Morphose who was presented with the Peter Middup Lifetime Achievement in FM Award. His career has been in senior positions in a roll call of leading facilities management organisations starting with Symonds FM, the company he founded, then Citex, Regus, The Asset Factor, Carillion, EC Harris and now Morphose where he is Chairman. He is described as ‘an absolute champion of facilities management and a great ambassador for the industry’.

Over 550 people from the facilities management sector attended the PFM Awards presentation dinner at the Brewery in London which was hosted by TV sports presenter, Gabby Logan, Now in their 19th year, the PFM Awards are recognised as the premier accolade for best practice at working in partnership to deliver facilities and support services across a broad spectrum of organisations in the private and public sectors.
