Service Works launches space management software module

17 October 2012

QFM Space provides accurate, real-time information to help facilities managers optimise space and resources effectively

Whether space is owned or rented, effective occupancy management is vital to every organisation; from optimising space utilisation through to planning and managing internal moves.

Service Works Group, the supplier of QFM facilities, property and performance management software, has introduced a new module to meet this need.

QFM Space is a web-based space management application. Occupancy data can be viewed and overlaid onto graphical floor plans to optimise resource, facilities and space management. Occupancy costs can be allocated to departments and charge-back information generated automatically.

The graphic presentation of information makes it easier not only to manage space but to scenario plan – moving individuals or departments or turning cellular space into open plan for example. Available space can be identified by running stacking and blocking reports and sharing information through the online CAD tools.

Move management
QFM Space fully supports move management, from scheduling all project activities through to generating plans and labels or undertaking post-move surveys. Rules can be applied for particular requirements, for example keeping fire wardens on a floor or maintaining adjacencies.

The application manages the full move process, updating all new location details including network information and telephony details.

QFM Space is an entirely web-based application which fully integrates with AutoCAD. The software is extremely configurable and delivers a high degree of functionality for all system users, regardless of their location.

The application provides high performance displays of floor plans with full zoom and pan functionality. Unlike traditional web ‘drawing viewers’, which only allow users to view static drawings, QFM Space displays live dynamic data and, where required, users are able to update this information directly over the web.

Supporting flexibility
As more organisations adopt flexible working practices, space management becomes more intricate. QFM Space provides corresponding functionality, including a Hotelling module which allows employees to reserve a workspace by selecting it on the floor plan for the date and time required. This provides clear visibility of an employee’s location and the availability of supporting resources and services. The Hotelling module maximises the use of shared workspace, enables employees to find easily a place to work or meet, avoids double bookings, improves communication and optimises staff productivity.

In summary, QFM Space enables organisations to ensure that property is managed cost-effectively and in a timely fashion.
