FMA Young Manager of the Year

With the PFM Awards now approaching, the finalists in the FMA Young Manager of the Year Award have been selected by the Facilities Management Association. The FMA Young Manager of the Year Award recognises management potential among facilities professionals at the beginning of their careers in FM. Here, in no particular order, is an introduction to this year’s young stars.

Operations Manager for MITIE Client Services

As Operations Manager, Sara has over five years’ experience in managing small and large facilities teams within different blue-chip and corporate companies within London. She has introduced models of working and innovative procedures which have raised the service and team to award-winning status.

Achievements in this role include:

? Implemented policies & procedures through ‘Managers How to Guide’

? Introduced bespoke 5* service to multiple contracts

Regional Facilities Manager for Rollright Facilities Limited

Now aged 30 he has a portfolio of six corporate clients, a multi disciplined team of over 70 and P&L responsibility of £1.5 million. The role also has strategic input into shaping the service offering and development of business processes.

Achievements in this role include:

? Introduction of a time and attendance system

? Security scheme for City of London Polics

Colin says: “I started my career in 1998 as an Administrator aged 16 within the Facilities Department. I was young, enthusiastic and willing to learn. I had no idea that being placed within facilities would ignite my passion for service delivery and would be the road map for my professional career. My route from Administrator to Regional Manager has been challenging, inspiring and rewarding which sums up the vibrant industry.”

Anthony says: “Emails have taken over the communication world, and are an essential part of our job but we need to go out and talk. I never forget that’s where I started and I believe that it provides the life-blood of a modern FM business.
