Hampshire awards 380-site contract

26 September 2012

Kier has been awarded a five-year contract to provide planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive facilities management services to approximately 380 council buildings across east Hampshire.

The £3.7m a year contract was awarded after council tendered its PPM and FM services at the end of last year. Before this, Kier had been the incumbent contractor since 2007 for PPM, reactive, mechanical and electrical, and reactive fabric works. Kier will be responsible for various buildings in the eastern half of Hampshire, including adult learning centres, fire stations, schools, libraries, youth centres and care homes.

In order to resource this work, Kier will mobilise multi-skilled engineers, from combustion and mechanical engineers to electricians and fire alarm and fabric engineers.

Adrian Lemarie, Kier operations director, commented: “Having worked with the council since 2007, it is a big vote of confidence that they have awarded us a new contract for five years, with the possibility of further extensions. This is further evidence of both our ability to both come out in a competitive market, and also to provide great service, year-on-year.

“That Hampshire had the faith and confidence in Kier to award a new contract is a great credit to the ability, dedication and attitude of our team of existing engineers, and to the help desk and administrative team who have built confidence and a strong rapport with the personnel at the council. The strong relationships forged over the five years went a long way to ensuring we retained this flagship contract.”
