Tabs FM Ltd deliver cutting edge PC, Web and Mobile (iOS/Android) CAFM solutions

05 September 2012

Technology plays an important part in our private and professional lives. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to do the things we do, as quickly as we wish to do them. As hardware solutions continue to push technological boundaries, software solutions are never far behind.

Since 1992, Tabs FM Ltd have been steadily developing one of the UKs most advanced Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) software applications. Developed in line with client requirements and close monitoring of market trends, the comprehensive suite of CAFM modules extends across a range of disciplines, including Maintenance Management, Resource Management, Health & Safety and other Supporting systems. Recent advances in technology prompted re-engineering and re-development of the 40+ modules contained within the powerful Tabs System. Following an intense Research and Development phase, Tabs FM Ltd embarked on a three year project to rebuild Tabs Systems using cutting edge .Net/WPF technology.

Tabs FM Ltd first previewed the new product release at the Facilities Show in May 2012, which received an extremely positive reception. In July, Tabs FM Ltd hosted a client forum at Tabs FM HQ, where the latest innovations and developments were presented and officially launched to existing clients. The product launch forum included overview presentations, hands-on experience, Q&A sessions, client networking and a wonderful buffet!

So what’s new?

Not only have Tabs FM Ltd re-developed their legacy system using a sustainable and future proof development infrastructure, they’ve also developed new modules, new mobile interfaces and new features to provide a technically advanced and functionally brilliant CAFM system for Facilities Managers and Service Providers.

In addition to the core CAFM modules, Tabs FM Ltd introduced a range of new modules to further support the demanding requirements of the Facilities and Service Management industry. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enquiry Management are just two new modules that support the workflow of customer service operations and lead management.

The new Event Management System offers an ideal solution for both internal Facilities Managers and Service Providers, by providing an integrated tool to schedule and manage events of any type, forums, training courses, weddings etc.

New resource management tools such as the Resource Planner and Global Task Diary enhance the ability to manage and schedule resources more efficiently. Supporting drag and drop technology, both the Resource Planner and Global task Diary enable users to quickly identify available resources for task reallocation using a clear and visually appealing interface. The Global Task Planner also acts as a centralised and personal calendar from which activities can be viewed and also created.

For enhanced analytical reporting, Tabs FM Ltd have introduced a new Digital Dashboard that provides a real-time and interactive view of business critical data. Dashboard views are quickly configured to display data that is relevant to support your operations.

Other new main system features include, outlook integration, intelligent inspections, auto project templates/deployment, improved SLA/KPI monitoring, auto population of contract specific schedule of rates, cost analysis tools, improved security controls and much more.

Another great enhancement to the core system is the additional mobile CAFM platforms that are now supported. With consumer grade devices becoming common place in the Facilities Management industry, Tabs FM Ltd have develop Apple iOS (iPhone, iTouch, iPad) and Android CAFM software apps in addition to their existing Windows Mobile 6.5 solution. These new apps naturally extend the core system to leading smartphone and tablet devices. This aids the streamlining of processes/data between back office and field engineers to improve response times and data accuracy, offering instant efficiency and cost savings.

One of the great new features of the new mobile CAFM apps is their ability to work using both online and offline modes, meaning that engineers can work with live data where a connection is present. For areas of no connectivity (i.e. basements), day-to-day activities can still be performed by using data stored locally on the device and therefore preventing disruption.

2012 is already proving to be an exciting year for Tabs FM Ltd and Tabs Systems. A road map outlines a path to grow and diversify the both the products and services provided by Tabs FM Ltd, to continue to support new challenges within the Facilities Management arena and provide a centralised solution for many new clients.
