Take ‘em down - and up

10 August 2012

Amalgamated Lifts has recently completed a contract for the major refurbishment of 11 lifts at Kingston Crown Court.

The contract, worth £440k, was awarded by consultants E C Harris and included the refurbishment of three judges lifts, two custody lifts, two juror lifts, a juror/staff lift, two public lifts and a goods lift. New control systems with variable frequency drives and ‘eco-mode’ have been fitted, which lower the power to down-lighting in lift cars and main control panels when not in use and improve the energy efficiency of the lifts by up to 50%.

The project, which took five months to complete, involved extensive out of hours working around court sittings in order to keep noise levels and disruption to a minimum.
