Low energy lighting puts Norland in the frame

02 August 2012

Norland has been selected as a preferred supplier for one of the largest framework agreements for energy efficient lighting in UK history. Norland will provide energy efficient lighting to members of the NHS Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NHSCPC) using its Norland GREEN product.

NHS CPC is a NHS-owned national procurement organisation which uses its immense buying power to deliver millions of pounds of efficiencies and value-added benefits to its membership of 55 NHS trusts around the country. Its recent tender for LED lighting solutions identified that the adoption of energy efficient lighting in the NHS has the potential to save £2.7m and 30,000t of CO2 per annum. Applicants were asked to detail how they might meet members’ needs around a number of criteria including technical features, project management and mobilisation, environmental benefits and commercials.

Steve Sercombe, Head of Corporate Procurement at NHSCPC said: “This framework agreement will help NHS Trusts to deliver better energy efficiency and offers opportunities for significant cost improvements. As one of the appointed suppliers Norland demonstrated significant capability in this sector.”

Norland’s lighting solutions reduce energy costs and emissions and are cost-effective to decommission and dispose. They can be integrated with control systems to give just the light which is needed when it is needed. The facilities management company has a complete range of LED lighting products ranging from LED lamps for retrofitting fluorescent tubes to fully dimmable presence and daylight-controlled IP65-rated LED luminaires. NHSCPC members will be able to benefit from Norland’s expertise in lighting and in providing performance guarantees for energy conservation measures.

Joseph O’Dumody, Energy Services Director, Norland said: “We already supply a number of hospitals and NHS Trusts which means we are experienced in meeting the specific needs of the healthcare market. We meet all the healthcare technical specifications and are fully compliant with the Society of Light and Lighting and CIBSE Lighting Guides. As you’d expect we are also BS EN 60598-2-25 and ISO 14001 accredited”. He went on to say “Norland GREEN makes capital-intensive energy projects affordable.”
