Sharp elected B&ES president

02 August 2012

The Building & Engineering Services Association has chosen Sue Sharp to be its President for 2012/13 at its AGM in July. Sharp joined the building engineering services sector in 1987 – following a career in banking – when she was appointed office manager by Overclean Ltd, the Devon-based ventilation hygiene specialist which has been in membership of the Association since 1996.

She was promoted to operations director of Overclean in 1996 and managing director two years later – remaining in the latter post until 2007, when she accepted a non-executive directorship of the company. She also runs a management consultancy – Sharp Business Solutions.

On a voluntary basis, she is involved in a mentoring scheme established by the National Enterprise Network, which grants businesses start-up loans to the unemployed. She has been a member of the Council of the Association since 2003, and was chairman of its Service & Facilities Group from 2010 to 2012. She also served as chairman of the South West Regional Branch for four years from 2005.

Also at the AGM, Bruce Bisset of Galloway Group became president elect, and Andy Sneyd of Crown House Technologies was elected vice president. Bob Shelley of Argent FM will serve during 2012/13 as immediate past president.
