Vacherin adopts SMART approach to healthy eating

25 July 2012

Specialist London caterer, Vacherin, has today launched an innovative new healthy eating brand that merges delicious healthy food with technology for the workplace. As the first contract caterer to use QR codes for nutritional information, Vacherin’s customers can now get instant detailed nutritional information on their smart phones by scanning QR codes on point of sale materials alongside the new healthy dishes.

The new brand, called Nutritious & Delicious, has been developed in response to a growing consumer desire for more information on the food available in the workplace. Mark Philpott, Managing Director of Vacherin, explained, “We’ve watched the meteoric rise of the smartphone and matched this with the increasing numbers of customers that want to be able to make informed decisions about what they are eating. By giving them a new range of specially developed healthy foods alongside instant access to dietary and nutritional advice, we’re catering for this need.”

The new range will sit alongside Vacherin’s existing food offer and initially focus on grab and go style dishes but will be expanded every month to encompass all elements of Vacherin’s menus.

In addition to QR codes, customers will notice little icon stickers that communicate the overall benefit of each dish - including energising foods, products high in superfoods, ‘mood foods’, or dishes that are simply well-balanced.

Nutritious & Delicious is being launched across all Vacherin sites that feature a café or restaurant over the next 6 weeks, with launch events customised at each site to match client needs. Lloyd Mann, Director of Food for Vacherin, said, “We’ve developed this new range along with our resident nutritionist Gary Baverstock and we will be attending all of the launch events to explain the dishes, show customers how to use the QR codes or the Nutritious & Delicious iPad that will be located at each site, and provide specialist advice to customers who want it.”

A new dedicated website has also been set up to provide more information to customers about the Nutritious & Delicious range and provide ideas and advice for healthy eating in the workplace, seasonal foods and nutritional tips (www.nutritious-and-delicious.co.uk  http://www.nutritious-and-delicious.co.uk  ). As well as accessing the information via their own smartphone, pc or the iPad in the café or restaurant, the QR codes will also lead customers rapidly to the relevant information they are seeking on a product.
