European FM Awards presented in Copenhagen

At the Gala Dinner for the EFMC2012 facilities management conference in Copenhagen on 24th May the European FM Awards 2012 were presented in two categories: Partners Across Borders and FM Researcher of the Year.

The winner in the Partners Across Borders category is Johnson Controls with Agilent Technologies in a partnership that covers 62 sites in 15 European countries. Agilent Technologies is the leading manufacturer of testing and measurement equipment for the electronics, communications and life sciences industries. Agilent needed to make significant reductions in operating expenses, while becoming more operationally and financially efficient, in order to sustain market leadership. The two companies started working together in 2003 and soon developed the delivery of facilities management services into a strategic alliance that also covers real estate, energy management and projects. The other finalists in this category were:
Interserve with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office: A seven year strategic partnership that began in 2008, delivers facilities management services to the FCO estate in the UK and 14 diplomatic missions in mainland Europe and Ireland. (www.interserve.com)

ISS Facility Services with Citi: The financial services company, Citi, has developed with ISS Facility Services an integrated facilities management solution within the EMEA region covering 27 countries. (www.issworld.com)


The winner in the FM Researcher of the Year category is Arto Huuskonen of Aalto University in Finland. Arto gave his paper called “Network Management of Service Providers in the Residential FM sector” at the Research Symposium at EFMC2012.

The other finalist were:
Kaisa Airo from Aalto University in Finland. Her research paper is entitled “Open Plan Office – from narratives to discourses: An analysis of an Internet discussion.”

Nora Klungseth from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Her research paper is entitled “Shadowing – a valuable approach to FM research.”

Hester van Sprang of Saxion University of Applied Science in the Netherlands. Her research paper is entitled “Workspace and knowledge worker’s perceived productivity in Dutch UAS.”

The Gala Dinner was attended by about 350 delegates from the EFMC 2012 which had a record attendance of nearly 700. The EuroFM Awards were sponsored by Facilitec and Pro-FM.

EFMC2012, the premier event of the European FM calendar, is run by EuroFM and IFMA in association with the local partners including DFM and CFM. EFMC2012 was supported by platinum sponsor ISS, gold sponsor Sodexo and associate sponsors Eurest Services, Interserve and Planon.

EFMC2013 will be held in Prague 23-24 May 2013.
