The FM sector’s most prestigious awards programme, the PFM Partnership Awards, is now underway for 2012, fine-tuned for its 19th year of celebrating the best examples of FM partnerships.

First stage is selecting your best projects – projects that show the value of a true partnership approach between client and service provider. Details of the categories and the entry form are on the following two pages, but a full set of rules and guidance submitting an entry are on our web site (

The most important thing is to start planning now as the deadline of 31st May 2012 will come round quickly. Entry is free and is open to anyone who can demonstrate excellence in the provision of FM services.

As you would expect, the PFM Awards has evolved over its 19 years to maintain relevance to the ever-changing FM industry and this year is no different. Firstly, and new for 2012, is the Partners in Service to the Community Award. This will recognise the role FM partners play in the community involvement with and in support of their clients in the local community including employment schemes, health and welfare, charitable events and the environmental improvements.

More subtle are changes that have been made to existing awards. Partners in Workplace Change (formerly Partners in Business Change) reflects the important role played by FM partners in transforming workplaces to enhance global communications through AV and technological solutions, innovative design and relocation strategies. Equally, the Partnership Team Member Award (formerly Partnering Excellence Award) is designed to find the exceptional team members in any of the finalists partnerships whose enthusiasm and effectiveness as an operative or supervisor of a small team of staff has been significant to the success of the partnership.

For those of you who are familiar with PFM and the Awards, it will be no surprise that the Lifetime Achievement in FM Award has been renamed in memory of PFM’s publisher, Peter Middup. The Peter Middup Lifetime Achievement in FM Award recognises the property and facilities management professionals who have demonstrated best practice in through the effective delivery of property and FM, and shown leadership in the FM community.

Once all entries are in and the finalists selected – and published in our August issue - our team of expert judges will go and visit each of the finalists’ projects individually, to witness their merits at first hand and be in a position to make an objective decision about the winners.

The highlight of the FM year comes on Wednesday 7th November when we will once again be hosting the PFM Awards at The Brewery in London.
