Interim solution for Bailey

Emma Bailey has set up a new business offering strategic and operational interim support within the facilities management industry.

Interim FM Solutions provides temporary interim management; independent CRM services; business development and bid support; gap analysis (within contracts and organisations); and strategic consultation in relation to FM and property management.

Bailey’s specialisms lie in senior management support; change management; organisational/contract transformation; problem solving; operational/service improvement; and customer relationship management.

“Many organisations choose to use interim support as it provides experienced independent professionals, without the additional permanent cost impact on the P&L,” she said. “Organisations typically use this more cost-effective solution due to unforeseen circumstances, emergencies, post bid selection cover, temporary executive needs and change/turnaround management on failing contracts. I have created this senior level solution to provide support and strategic direction for all aspects relating to FM, whether this is in an operational, business development or CRM capacity”.

She added: “My intention is to offer bespoke solutions, ranging from one or two-day commissions, for example undertaking face-to-face surveys with my clients’ customers (usually occurring every quarter) to longer projects or interim support from three to 12 months”.

Bailey has the FM pedigree to back up the new venture. In possession of an MBA, and a long standing member of the BIFM (MBIFM), she has worked, and been on, all sides of the table as a consultant, contractor and end user. Most recently, on the contractor side, as a client relationship director at MITIE where she worked as a consultant, business developer and also developed CRM strategies to support client retention. Prior to that she was an associate at Davis Langdon LLP where she provided various services including; strategic guidance in relation to FM services, whole life costing, due diligence analysis, benchmarking, bid reviews, design reviews and research, this was across all three sectors. She also has prior experience of interim roles – including working with Galliford Try for 12 months in 2001-2 as part of a PFI project with Birmingham City Council, and since leaving MITIE has undertaken a number of commissions, most recently a turnaround project within the social housing sector.

In April 2009 she joined the BIFM Members’ Council as the corporate representative; however Bailey has also spent time volunteering, not only within the FM sector, but as an Executive Committee member for the Friends of Banham Zoo (FOBZ). This charity supports local and international projects in relation to conservation of endangered species, one of which being The Snow Leopard Trust who recently won the 2011 BBC World Challenge.
