Pearlgood builds destruction role

Anthony Pearlgood, commercial director of PHS Datashred, has been appointed Chair of the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) Information Destruction section.

The BSIA is the trade association for the whole Security industry and within the secure destruction sector plays a leading role in developing and promoting professional standards when dealing with confidential information.

Pearlgood’s role as chair will be to guide the division’s strategy and lobbying to improve standards in the secure destruction market. He will also promote the benefits of BSIA accreditation both within the industry and to customers. As the section’s key figurehead he will also be involved in its fundraising and membership recruitment activity.

The Information Destruction division is made up of 45 members who represent approximately 80% of the UK industry.

Having worked in the secure destruction industry for over 20 years, Pearlgood brings a wealth of experience to his position within the BSIA. Commenting on the appointment and his aims as the new chair, he said: "I am delighted to be taking up this role and it’s a great honour to be involved in such a prestigious organisation. The BSIA upholds its position as the benchmark for the very highest standards in the industry. By achieving and adhering to these standards , our members are making a clear statement about their commitment to a secure and quality service. Crucially, this then allows customers to make a genuinely informed choice about who they give their confidential material to and how their company, customer and employee information is protected."
