A Gripping Story from Denios

27 October 2011

SCIGRIP Smarter Adhesive Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of IPS Corporation, a dedicated, successful adhesives manufacturer for over 25 years. This depth of expereience is reflected in consistently creating new environmentally friendly new adhesive chemistries and bonding solutions with the flexibility to meet ever-changing assembly techniques.

SCIGRIP's Washington site

The Challenge

The company had traditionally utilised a set of six small drum heaters spread around the large site for the purposes of bringing raw materials up to the required manufacturing temperature for various products. This however was not the best way of overseeing and controlling procedures and the company also needed more spare capacity to hand but without major impact on the factory premises.

The Solution

SCIGRIP had previously turned to hazardous storage experts Denios for exterior Systems Containers which are used to smartly store IBCs on a rotating basis of one full container going in to the factory as an empty comes out. Being the manufacturer of the larest storage selection worldwide Denios was able to meet the heating challenge with just a single large capacity WB 24.12 Hot Box designed for optimum temperature control. Again constructed of the distinctive Denios blue steel, the Hot Box can hold eight 205 litre drums or two 1000 litre IBCs. It is fire resistant, complies with the crucial pollution guideline PPG26 and measures 3690W x 1850D x 2325H. The complete remedy.

Results and benefits

As Frank Wilkin of SCIGRIP observes “ from day one the Denios Hot Box has been an oustanding success. It gives us a more centralised and monitored system and saves considerable space and especially time as regards bringing all manner of substances including for example sensitive waxes up to the ambient level. I am delighted to also say that the HSE are also very impressed and appreciative of our safety efforts which certainly meet their standards. In conjunction with the Denios systems containers we have a truly integrated and professional looking storage system to consolidate our effciency and quality”.
