Leading FM companies confirmed to exhibit at UK’s office* show

01 September 2011

World-leading document destruction company Shred-it is the latest exhibitor to join the new FMA Office Manager’s Village at office*, the UK’s only dedicated event for PAs and office managers, taking place at Earls Court, London, on 15-16 September.

This new bespoke village, featuring Shred-it, United Hygiene Services, Elementus, Incentive QAS Limited, MITIE, Speedy Services, I-FM.net, and the Facilities Management Association, has been introduced to offer support and guidance to the growing number of office managers, whose duties include facilities management.

“We know how complex workplace legislation can be, so we are offering our help and advice to office professionals who are finding themselves increasingly responsible for the health and safety compliance in their workplace,” says Suzanne Clarkson, marketing manager for independent workplace compliance consultancy Elementus.

Whilst office managers looking to find out more about information security and data protection protocols, will find Shred-it more than happy to help. According to recent independent research commissioned by Shred-it, “half of small firms in the UK still believe that the loss or theft of data from their organisation would have no impact on their business”. It’s a view that Robert Guice, Shred-it’s executive vice president (EMEA), is keen to change.

“Understanding your legal obligations in view of the Data Protection Act, and developing policies and procedures to comply with them in a consistent and reliable manner is absolutely essential,” says Guice. “As the financial and reputation damage a security breach could inflict harbours upon any business is enormous.”

In addition to the new FMA Office Managers’ Village, this year’s office* will also see the introduction of a dedicated Office Manager/Facilities Manager morning on Friday 16 September. An exclusive champagne breakfast, sponsored by i-FM.net, will kick off proceedings at 9.30am, followed by free FM sessions in office*’s new demo theatre.

Of course facilities management companies aren’t solely limited to the FMA Office Managers’ Village at office*, and numerous new exhibitors, including Working at Height, Filing Relocation, LTT Vending, Tata Global Beverages, the UK's leading Energy Brokers Pulse Commercial Utilities, and Kafevend, have secured stands across the show floor.

Kafevend’s commercial Marketing Director Jane Rowe is looking forward to meeting thousands of potential new customers at office*: “Quality hot and cold drinks are one of the critical factors in ensuring an engaged and happy workforce. Staff no longer want poor quality, ‘warm and wet’ beverages when they are used to the coffee shop experience when outside the workplace. The office* show will enable us to demonstrate the high quality drinks and vending machines available from Kafevend.”

Boasting over 175 exhibitors for its second show, office*’s central exhibition is complemented by a comprehensive training and development programme, plus Keynotes from top UK business women Jacqueline Gold and Michelle Mone OBE.
