OCS has supported the Chance to Shine programme, which introduces cricket into Surrey schools, for the sixth consecutive year. The annual competition finals recently took place at the Kia Oval with 15 participating schools from around the county.

OCS views involvement with local communities as a vital part of their corporate responsibility. Martin Gammon, OCS Group UK Managing Director, commented: “We are delighted to sponsor Chance to Shine at the Oval once again and this is always an inspiring occasion. Chance to Shine fits perfectly with our approach to supporting the communities in which we work and is very compatible with our values as a family business. We hope to continue our association for many years to come.”

The programme builds children’s confidence and teaches them teamwork and new skills. A teacher from a local school for children with learning difficulties and communications disorders which took part in the scheme commented: “Students who often find sports difficult have discovered the joy of cricket. It is very exciting to see them blossom with new found skills and self confidence.”
