Triathletes secure to excel

27 July 2011

The Virgin Active Triathlon has contracted Precreate Solutions to take care of all security aspects at this weekend’s event in London.

The Chelmsford based security firm will have 241 security staff all around the 26km route, managing crowd control and all other security issues during the five races taking place at the event on Saturday 30th July and Sunday 31st July at London’s Excel centre. There will also be several VIPs in attendance including Sir Richard Branson and Precreate Solutions will be in charge of the protection of all the celebrity guests on the day.

The course is based at the ExCel in London’s Docklands and the security firm will be running all security across all areas of the site including the spectators viewing areas beside the Docklands and the pedestrian bridge on the east side of ExCel. There will also be Precreate Solutions officials at all crossing points and at the multi-storey car park and on all points along the route, and they will make sure that the Brittania Pedestrian bridge is not used as a spectator platform – as it is a public right of way.

Luke Tomkins of Precreate Solutions said: “We are honoured to be chosen to be security firm to take care of the Virgin Active London Triathlon. Our firm has several years of major event security and have worked on several other sporting events. This is a big job and the scope of the staging the triathlon is extensive as it is a large site for the event and we will need to have a security presence at points all over the course.”

The London Triathlon is in its 11th year, with this being the first year that it has been sponsored by Virgin Active, and it was decided to change security provision this year to use Precreate Solutions.
