AVIVA chilled by new service

A new service has been launched by energy saving specialists Efficient Air for the FM sector to assess and improve the performance of chillers and condensers.

Using its Chiller Check on site analyser to trouble shoot the refrigeration circuits of the chillers, Efficient Air has already achieved savings at the Aviva headquarters building at Wellington Row in York .working with the building owners, TelerealTrillum, and facility managers Norland Managed Services..

Having compared the plant’s current performance against the data and building load specified by the manufacturer, Efficient Air designed a high efficiency upgrade to increase the current capacity with an improved part and full load efficiency.

These changes resulted in a 10 per cent, with a potential of 17 per cent, reduction in the annual cooling energy equating to £110,000.

“My gratitude goes to Technical Director, Steven Biggs and his team at Efficient Air for their efforts during the upgrade work – a particularly challenging project for a whole number of reasons,” said Arthur Portelli, Assistant Technical Director of TelerealTrillum. He added: “I am impressed with the manner that the team handled all the problems we encountered at the design and cost stage and during the work.”

Julain Jowitt, Business Development Manager of Efficient Air, describes Chiller Check as a very practical tool to quantify, implement and verify a very important, aspect of a large building’s operating system.

He remarked: “Combining the complexities of any investigative and remedial work with the ongoing operation of the building is a challenge that we are pleased to have overcome, and reflects the high professional standards of our team.”
