Broome Jenkins designs the Burgess Works Meet-U™ Table System

09 June 2011

The highly successful Queens Award winner and family owned Burgess Furniture company, who until recently concentrated mainly on the hospitality furniture sector, is launching a new division called Burgess Works, focusing on the corporate and office meeting room markets. Burgess Works is proud to launch the first of a range of new products, a stunning new meeting table system called Meet-U™.

Two years in the making and designed by Broome Jenkins, starting with cardboard modeling and progressing to rapid prototyping, the new Meet-U™ meeting table system includes simple features to allow for agile working and modern technology.

The contemporary sleek Meet-U™ table system is built to exacting standards in the Burgess
factory in London. Carefully designed with the user in mind, a variety of top shapes including rectangles, squares, triangles and quadrants link together to form the perfect layout for any meeting room environment. The full range of tables can be further complimented by bridging units, minimising the number of table legs needed and so allowing more people to sit in total comfort around the table layout.

An integral rotating corner plate, neatly concealed within the frame, supports the bridge tops; this allows for bridge tops to be used on two adjacent sides of the table simultaneously. The bridge top is cost effective and of course, requires less storage
space. A neatly designed channel on the underside of the table allows insertion of a multi function clip that can be used to secure and support a modesty panel, link tables together and can support power cables in the form of a “cable tidy”.

Tailor made to the customers specific choice of frame and top finish, the lightweight Meet-U™ design incorporates a choice of MFC or High pressure laminate tops and 21
combinations of colour/finish. Each table comes with adjustable leveling legs to ensure stability on any floor surface or as an optional extra castors can be fitted allowing
for easy movement around a room or venue. Jeremy Burgess, Managing Director of Burgess Furniture Ltd, says “I am delighted to see the Meet-U table system going in to production. After over 50 years of producing high quality furniture for the hospitality market, the progression in to the corporate meeting and office market was a natural evolution
for us.
Having decided to commission Broome Jenkins, one of the most respected UK based furniture designers, and after almost 2 years in design and development, I am extremely pleased
with the quality of design, overall contemporary look and functionality of the Meet-U table system. From the reaction we have had so far, I am confident this will be very well received in the market place.”
