With more than 70 clients, publishing in excess of 600 magazines, CDS Global handles millions of mail items each year in its operations and this requires total efficiency, security and reliability – which is where the Opex 72 comes in.
It represents the next generation of Rapid Extraction Desk (RED), featuring an all-new feeder, milling cutter, and auto-jog transport – making it the most efficient way for one operator to open and extract a wide range of incoming mail. The Model 72 marks the first time that milling cutting technology has been offered on an OPEX RED. This option is being made available in addition to OPEX traditional, and highly regarded, slicing technology. Milling cutting offers a smaller cut depth which significantly reduces the potential of cutting contents. This makes it the perfect complement to the Model 72 RED, which is designed to handle the entire range of mail, including items that were previously difficult to process on an extraction desk.
The all-new feeder is fine-tuned for unmatched performance and gives the Model 72 the ability to handle intermixed envelopes of various thicknesses and size up to 16cm x 29cm with ease. The machine automatically adapts to varying envelopes and reliably transports them through the track, all without operator intervention. In addition, the entire envelope path has been optimized to accommodate irregular envelopes. Innovative features like the auto-jog transport shifts contents away from both cut edges to achieve a new level of content protection. All of this results in a better ability to process virtually all incoming envelopes with decreased down-time, higher quality, and greater overall throughput. Other new features include enhanced ergonomics, an optimized mail tray, and 20% more desk space.
A spokesperson at CDS Global outlines the tangible advantages from the investment "Our thorough research identified the Opex range as the best of its kind and since installation CDS Global has achieved an optimum operating rate of 500 items an hour. Combined with the service support we have increased productivity by over 30%."
