Cannon Hygiene wins Cleaning Show Innovation Award

28 April 2011

In The Cleaning Show Innovation Awards 2011, Cannon Hygiene was given the title of Winner of the Washroom Product/Service Category by the UK’s top industry experts. The award was made for Cannon’s exclusive Activap™ germicide contained in its feminine hygiene and nappy disposal units.

Feminine hygiene units can be a breeding ground for potentially deadly bacteria, as well as harbouring viruses such as HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Activap™ is the only germicide proven to kill 99.999% of harmful germs – anything less and users are at risk from infectious levels of bacteria.

Unlike competitor products, Activap™ isn’t simply a deodoriser or contact-only germicide, it has a unique, patented vapour action which means it can destroy germs throughout the unit. Contact-only germicides allow untreated bacteria to rapidly multiply away from the base and walls of the unit while Activap™ goes on killing bacteria, as new waste enters over time, throughout the standard four week service cycle and beyond. A variety of deodorising products on the market mask unpleasant smells in the short term but have no anti-bacterial properties so that micro-organisms such as Staph aureus and E Coli are free to multiply.

Cannon Hygiene’s Sales Director Pat Gillingham commented: “Activap™ has been rigorously tested in ‘actual use’ conditions in feminine hygiene applications to ensure unrivalled protection from the hazards associated with the storage of feminine hygiene waste. We and our partners Genesis Biosciences, with whom we have worked very closely to bring this truly revolutionary product to market, are very proud to have received this recognition.”

In 2010, OCS Group CEO Chris Cracknell and Conrad Mielcuszny, CEO of Genesis Biosciences, signed a long-term agreement continuing the exclusive use of the ground breaking germicide Activap™ in Cannon Hygiene (part of the OCS Group) feminine hygiene units. Activap™ is the world’s most advanced, proven effective in-use germicide for feminine hygiene waste disposal.

Speaking on behalf of OCS, Chris Cracknell stated: “I am delighted that we are continuing our exclusive agreement to provide this product which is uniquely protecting women’s health across the globe. Choosing Activap™ is a real demonstration by employers that they are committed to reducing risk to their employees and customers.” Conrad Mielcuszny commented: “Cannon Hygiene shares our commitment and vision to provide its customers with the best quality feminine hygiene service in the industry. Activap’s™ unique patented vapour action works throughout the interior space of a feminine hygiene unit and has been rigorously tested to ensure unrivalled protection from the hazards associated with the storage of feminine hygiene waste.”
