Ecovert FM achieves BS EN 16001

07 April 2011

Ecovert FM has achieved the standard BS EN 16001: 2009 and is the first leading Facilities Management company in the country to have been awarded this British Standard.

The standard, which certifies an organisation’s Energy Management System, was gained at the company’s Cabinet Office contract and at Elizabeth House (head office).

The BS EN 16001 standard assesses a company’s Energy Management System (EnMS) to ensure its energy management practices and procedures are brought together to work in alignment, e.g. maintenance, training of technicians, building control strategy, measurement, monitoring and targeting, and communication.

Ian Didcock, Acting Head of Estate Operations and responsible for energy management and sustainability at the Cabinet Office, says “The Cabinet Office is pleased that Ecovert FM has gained 16001 across our central London estate. It demonstrates how far we’ve come in managing our energy effectively.”

Dave Carr, Managing Director of Ecovert FM says, “We are delighted to have been successful in our 16001 external assessment. Effective energy management is a priority focus for us because of the significant potential to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions for our clients and ourselves. Having an accredited body validate our processes and procedures adds considerable value for our organisation. It confirms to current and future clients that when managing energy, we do what we say we do.”
