Wilson Vale gains Amgen catering contract

Niche caterers, Wilson Vale, have gained a staff catering contract with Amgen, the pioneering biotechnology company. The contract, which is valued at £500k, is across two sites in Cambridge and Uxbridge, where Wilson Vale now provide breakfast, lunch and hospitality services for 750 Amgen employees.

The independent caterers have already commenced a catering service for Amgen staff at Uxbridge, and the Cambridge catering operation opens today, 31st January 2011.
The news comes after Wilson Vale’s financial Y/E results (December 2010) show that annual turnover is up approximately 10 per cent on 2009 at £13 million. The company now holds 65 contracts and employs 550 staff.
Andrew Wilson, co-founder and managing director of Wilson Vale, said:”We couldn’t ask for a better start to the New Year. Despite a challenging marketplace, we continue to attract like-minded clients who have a quality ethos and who appreciate fresh food and great service.
“Approximately 40% per cent of our new business development can be attributed to recommendations or an extension to existing business. People make a business and we feel that our success to date can be firmly attributed to the relationships which we have built with our clients.”
Andrew Wilson established the company in 2002 with his partner, Carolyne Vale, who oversees the operations side of the business. The company’s portfolio of clients is mainly within the B&I and education sectors. The focus is on fresh, home-cooked food using locally sourced, seasonal produce, wherever possible.
Andrew concluded:”2012 marks the tenth anniversary of our business and it would be great to hit a £15m turnover at that point. Our goal is to continue to build on our strong reputation to date through consistent, controlled growth and without compromising our ethos or quality standards.”
