Activeion’s ionatorEXPTM scoops top award at Ireland’s SHOP 2010 exhibition

18 November 2010

The all-conquering ionised water cleaning tool from Activeion, the ionatorEXPTM, has done it again, winning the Product of the Show Award at SHOP 2010, held at the RDS Simmonscourt in Dublin at the end of September. The ionator won in the Best for Innovation category.

SHOP is Ireland’s major event for the food, drink, retail and hospitality markets. The Product of the Year Awards, sponsored by the Irish marketing and communications firm Marla.ie, is regarded as Ireland’s leading launch pad for companies to present their products to an audience defined by market sector.

Recently awarded the HACCP International Certificate of Food Safety as a food-safe aid to manufacturing (cleaning and sanitation), the Activeion ionator EXP™ is Europe’s first handheld tap-water ioniser - a completely chemical-free cleaning tool that ionises and converts tap water into ionised water. The ionised water that sprays out when you squeeze the trigger has been proved to kill 99.9% of common bacteria plus the H1N1 Type A 2009 swine ‘flu virus on hard non-porous surfaces. It also lifts all types of soil and makes it easy to wipe away, leaving surfaces in food retailers, hotel kitchens, restaurants, serving areas and washrooms sparkling clean and safe.

This remarkable new tool looks like, and is slightly larger than, a conventional trigger-spray bottle. You simply fill it with half a litre of tap water, with no added chemicals. When the trigger is pressed, tap water passes through a water cell that applies a small electrical charge, ionising the water, after which it goes through an ion-exchange membrane. The temporarily ionised water breaks down dirt from most surfaces including glass, stainless steel, wood, carpet, natural stone, marble, even clothing. In fact, it can replace many general-purpose chemical cleaners commonly used for these types of surfaces throughout the supermarket and grocery trade.

Activeion ionator EXP™ is extremely effective for cleaning shelving, chiller cabinets, areas around cash registers, display cabinet doors and handles – in fact all the surfaces that routinely get soiled and where pathogens can accumulate.

Switching to a chemical-free way

“It’s time to switch to a completely chemical-free way to clean that also protects” said André G. Krell, Activeion’s General Manager in Europe. “Our certified tests show how well our products perform on various test micro-organisms under a six second spray period at a distance of approximately 7 to 10 centimetres. A quick spray cleans dirt and eliminates bacteria, improving health all around.”

Marketed and sold by Activeion (Europe) GmbH, based in Baden, Switzerland, the new Activeion ionator EXP™ (www.activeion.com) is available now at just €269, excluding VAT and shipping - prices in other currencies are calculated at the daily listed foreign exchange rate.

"We are proud to take the gold in this award competition" said Andre’ G. Krell. "Ireland is one of our key target markets, along with the UK, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and the "HoReCa" (hospitality, restaurants and catering) sector is one of the company’s critical vertical markets. The placing confirms full client acceptance of Activeion’s ionator EXP features—cleaning efficiency, safety, sustainability and cost savings."
