New owners for FRL recruitment

30 September 2010

FRL recruitment has been acquired by Newwave Group following the death of its founder, John Davis.

Following the news in FM Report 276 that FRL’s founder, John Davis, had died, and the company had gone into administration, Newwave Group acquired the company. The acquisition fulfils Newwave Groups ambition to move into the Facilities Management sector and compliments their existing presence in the Construction, Industrial, Care and Public sector markets. FRL recruitment joins the group and will benefit from the support and expertise that have lead to their continued growth and success in recent years.
Group Managing Director Mike Checkley is delighted with the purchase and full of enthusiasm and hope for the future.
This change has been rapid in order to benefit the family as well as to ensure the continuity of the business. Newwave Facilities trading as FRL recruitment will build and strengthen the client relationships and market knowledge that John Davis and his team fostered over many years. Developing and growing the FRL brand and business in this way is a testament to the memory, hard work, dedication and contribution that John made to FM and the Recruitment industry.
John Davis had founded FRL with Neil Read and Judy Greene Steward in September 1999 after working in the industry for nearly 20 years. He had been supplying staff to the fledging FM industry since 1979. He was a leading figure in the FM community contributing to its knowledge and learning, supporting its institutions and media, and providing a valuable service to aspiring professionals. He was also a prodigious supporter of various charities.
Commenting on his untimely death, PFM’s publisher, Peter Middup said “John was a lovely man and a consistent advocate of all the good and innovative things in FM. The team at PFM magazine will miss John’s friendship, support, and enthusiasm. His death is a shock to us all and, at this sad time, our thoughts are with his family.”
In his most recent business venture, John Davis formed a training and development company called the Asset Faculty formed by a joint venture with The Asset Factor, FM Guru and New Generation Learning.
