Amalgamated Lifts completes refurbishment project for Freshwater Group

Amalgamated Lifts, leading providers of lift installation, modernisation and maintenance services across London and the South East has recently completed the refurbishment of a lift in central London for the Freshwater Group of Companies.

The project involved the installation of a drum drive lift, creating extra lift car space in the prestigious residential block, Glenloch Court in Belsize Park. Drum drive lifts are an ideal solution creating extra passenger space in cramped lift cars

Keith Stockbridge, Major Works Manager for Amalgamated said, "Whilst the technology is not new, we are seeing a number of projects, particularly in high-end residential blocks, where drum drive systems are the ideal solution creating extra passenger space and a more luxurious and spacious ride, improving both the efficiency and the lift ride experience for users."

Extra space is created because drum drive lifts don’t use a counterweight system that takes up valuable space in the lift shaft. This allows for a larger car and is particularly useful in buildings up to 30m high where the lift shaft area is limited and also in the replacement of old lifts in existing buildings. The bigger lift car has the benefit of providing a larger load capacity and so will carry more people, plus has the added bonus of usually being able to use automatic instead of manual doors.

Amalgamated Lifts were contracted by Highdorn, the London based property management company that looks after properties within the Freshwater Group of Companies.
