Johnson Controls extends BBC contract

15 July 2010

Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions has this week signed an extended contract with the BBC to deliver FM services to its property portfolio across London and Scotland.

The three-year contract extension covers more than 612,000 square metres and includes iconic properties such as Television Centre, Media Village, Broadcasting House, Elstree Studios, and Glasgow’s Pacific Quay - the home of BBC Scotland.
Chris Kane, head of BBC Workplace, said: “The BBC and Johnson Controls will continue to build on our excellent relationship and work together as ‘One workplace’. We all look forward to working with the team over the coming years - a crucial time of change as we move to Salford and into New Broadcasting House in London.”
Commenting on the extension, Steve Quick, Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions VP and GM for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “This marks a significant milestone in our relationship with the BBC and would not have been possible without the commitment, energy, effort and passion of our team. We will continue to nurture that talent to ensure the long-term success of the BBC Workplace vision. Johnson Controls will also continue to leverage our expertise and innovation to help the BBC deliver some ground-breaking strategic programmes. I'm proud of what we are achieving at the BBC and look forward to being part of the ongoing transformation of this iconic corporation.”
Johnson Controls has worked with the BBC since 2006 as a ‘One Workplace team’ partner, managing major events including the British General Election coverage and regular visits from heads of state that require high-end FM management. Every year the FM team manages more than a million visitors to the BBC and answers 200,000 helpdesk requests.

Bristol-Myers Squibb: Johnson Controls Global Workplace Solutions division (GWS) has also announced that it will manage the day-to-day FM office sites, manufacturing facilities and R&D laboratories of Bristol-Myers Squibb in the USA. GWS will oversee all non-FDA regulated facility management services, including technical areas and low-impact capital projects, allowing Bristol-Myers Squibb to focus on its core business competencies. GWS will be responsible for insuring that all procedures meet regulatory and quality compliance levels. The GWS team will handle all facilities operations-related activity at locations in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Indiana, Massachusetts, and four facilities in Puerto Rico.
“Working with trusted partners, such as Johnson Controls, in a way that positively impacts our business enables us to focus on the important work of bringing innovative medicines to patients who need them,” said Glenn Gerecke, vice president, Engineering and Facilities Services. “Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions brings the experience and expertise in the pharmaceutical facilities outsourcing arena to deliver those services.”
“We’re pleased to be partnering with a world-class organization like Bristol-Myers Squibb to deliver workplace services in full support of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s corporate strategy” said John Summers, vice president and general manager of Life Sciences, Global WorkPlace Solutions, Johnson Controls. “Bristol-Myers joins an elite group of GWS Life Sciences global clients.”
