The partnership of Sodexo and Procter & Gamble won the Partners Across Borders category in the European FM Awards presented in Madrid this week

The Sodexo and Procter & Gamble FM teams collected the prestigious European FM Award 2010 for the Partners Across Borders category in front of more than 200 leaders of the European FM sector at the Gala Dinner in Madrid on Tuesday this week.  Held at the Finca la Munoza on the outskirts of Madrid, the European FM Awards ceremony was the highlight of the Gala Dinner and the two-day Conference and Research Symposium attended by more than 500 people from Europe, the USA and Australia - the largest EFMC event to date.
The other finalist partnerships comprising Mace Macro and Invesco, and Service Management International and Jones Lang LaSalle were also in attendance and received finalist certificates.  The winners of the other European FM Awards categories were Susanne Balslev Nielsen of  DTU Technical University of Denmark who won the European FM Researcher of the Year, and Kriz Scheeres of NHTV Breda University of Applied Science, winner of the European FM Student of the Year Award.
Since 2004 Sodexo has worked with P&G (Procter & Gamble) to improve FM services delivery in the UK and now to all P&G’s European facilities in nine countries. P&G needed to reduce costs, improve service quality, simplicity, and consistency in delivery of FM services to its manufacturing portfolio witha single provider that could leverage experience and expertise globally. In 2004, the company began discussions with Sodexo on possible solutions to help achieve these objectives and to enable its plant managers to focus on manufacturing .Sodexo won a tender for the delivery of soft services at three initial pilot sites in Germany, Italy and France, and this was followed by a wider-ranging European agreement for soft services at 27 factories.
P&G’s Global Business Services (GBS) led the relationship connecting with Sodexo’s International Large Accounts (ILA) team. Together they partnered to deliver a best in class transition driven by a global roll out structure and strong governance. One of the key strengths of the relationship structure was that it facilitated interaction at all levels of the P&G and Sodexo organisations, which in turn supported the widespread understanding of critical global objectives and local buy-in. Currently the European/EMEA region has been expanded to include 24 live operational plants in  nine countries and an additional eight plants are scheduled to transition in 2010.
A comprehensive toolbox has been created to ensure consistency at all P&G plants and to simplify the transition process, making it easier and more cost efficient for P&G to consolidate services under a single provider. Sodexo has also taken on additional responsibilities to support P&G in opening newly built factories and integrating them into the current manufacturing portfolio.
An online 24/7 access IT platform tracks financial and performance metrics results (CPI & KPI) at every site. This tool guarantees transparency, facilitates result consolidation and is an efficient platform for information sharing between all levels of the P&G and Sodexo organisations.
Sodexo is now regarded as one of P&G GBS’s top sixteen strategic partners. Since the start of the successful EMEA roll out, Sodexo has been awarded soft and hard services in the Americas and Asia. Today more than 100 manufacturing sites across about 30 countries are covered in the scope of the global agreement.

Winners of the Partners Across Borders category in the European FM Awards in 2009, Eurest Services with Shell, were also at the event and  presented an update on its winning partnership to the conference delegates on Tuesday 1st June.
