Europa acquires Nationwide Building Services

20 May 2010

Europa announced this week a significant move in its strategic programme of growth with the acquisition of Nationwide Building Services Group Ltd, parent company of Nationwide Maintenance, Falcon Mechanical and Nationwide LCS.

The integration of the Nationwide business and employees will further strengthen Europa’s core service offering with the additional capacity and expertise to self-deliver mobile and static building maintenance services. The new division will trade as Europa Nationwide Technical Services and will continue to build on its reputation to provide high quality services to its existing customers.  The current management shall remain in place heading up the Europa Nationwide Technical Services business.  John Quigley will take up the role of Managing Director, John Ralph Operations Director and Chris Sykes, Finance Director.
Post acquisition Europa will have a turnover of over £140m, employing in the region of 2,500 people, making it one of the largest independent organisations within its industry sector. This deal follows the recent acquisition of the FM company known as Operon in January this year.  Prior to that Europa acquired workspace solutions business Eastlake Work Group in May 2009 and United Utilities Facilities Management in early 2008.  This deal follows a successful year for both Europa and Nationwide with both companies having grown successfully within their own right.
Greig Brown, Europa Chief Executive said, “The Nationwide team has built an exciting and strong business that complements Europa’s vision to become a leading property and infrastructure support services company.  Our companies have formed a strong working relationship over the years and the management team for this deal has worked really hard over the past 12 months to reach the point where we can bring our two companies together in the best way for our people and our clients. By joining forces we can deliver a comprehensive service for our clients and create new opportunities for our own people.  Importantly, the team of directors for this division can continue to develop their already successful business within the Europa group.  I’m confident that this partnership will have the flexibility and resources needed to continue to build on our success”.
John Quigley, Managing Director for Europa Nationwide Technical Services, adds, “We are delighted that this deal has taken place and strongly believe that the technical capabilities Nationwide brings to Europa shall offer a tremendous proposition to the UK services sector. I know I speak for everyone on the management team when I say that we are very much looking forward to fully integrating with Europa and realising the full potential that this transaction brings for both clients and our employees. Our companies share similar values; we both put our customers and people first and are always committed to continuous innovation, exceeding customer expectations and improving performance.  Our synergies, cultures and complementary services make us natural partners and together we will have the strength to gain even greater market share.”
