BIFM announces new chairman and deputies

18 March 2010

Ian Broadbent

BIFM’s Members’ Council meeting this week elected BIFM North’s Ian Broadbent as its next chairman, and voted in two new deputy chairmen.

The BIFM’s new chairman for the next two years will be Ian Broadbent.  Ian has been chair of the North region since 2007 and has played an increasingly active part within the BIFM.  He is firm believer in learning opportunities and career development, and has himself obtained the BIFM Qual.
Commenting on his appointment, he said:  “I am delighted to have recently been elected at Members’ Council as chairman of the BIFM.  We move into a very busy period for the BIFM with our conference in April, the Facilities Show in May and AGM and members day in June.  Following this we will close out the year with TWM and the annual awards in October. While I have some formal duties now to perform at all these events, I look forward to the opportunity to network in a less formal environment and share, learn and discuss the topics of the day with both members and non-members.”
Broadbent has already served one year of his two year tenure as deputy. BIFM has therefore elected Ismena Clout chair of the London region since 2008 and chair of the Rising FM special interest group as his replacement in what would have been his remaining year.
Also voted in as deputy chair to serve a two year term was Stuart Harris, chair of the East region. He was elected as East region chair in 2005.
Ian, Ismena and Stuart will officially take over their new roles on 17th June at the AGM and members day, being held at the British Council in Trafalgar Square.
