Inviron wins GKN Aerospace FM contract

Inviron has been appointed by GKN Aerospace to maintain its recently purchased manufacturing facility in Filton, Bristol.

A dedicated on-site team, including engineers, administration staff and a contract manager, will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of a variety of systems, such as air conditioning, heating and lighting, across the 74,000m2 site. This facility was previously part of the existing Airbus site, where Inviron has been providing a dedicated FM service for a number of years. In addition, GKN is investing at nearby Severn Beach adding a further 28,000sq m.

Tom McGuinness, general manager of Inviron’s National Facilities Management business, said: “We’re delighted to have won this contract. We already have a good knowledge of the Filton site, so GKN Aerospace can be assured that our new team will provide a first-class service.”

This purchase is also good news for Bristol’s economy, as GKN Aerospace has committed itself to investing a further £150m over the next few years, in order to make the new facility a centre of excellence in composite wing technology.
