SAVING ENERGY WITH HALTON'S POLLUSTOP

20 August 2009

The versatile Pollustop air purification system from Halton Foodservice now includes an energy-saving heat recovery option for the recovery of heat from the warm air extracted from kitchens. The recovered heat can then be used for pre-warming incoming fresh air or pre-heating hot water services.

Halton’s Pollustop heat recovery module is based on a tried and tested runaround coil design, optimised for use in kitchen ventilation systems. The coil can be piped to serve a matching coil in the supply-air system. Or, for even greater efficiency, it can be piped to a tank for pre-heating the incoming domestic hot water service in the kitchen, typically achieving a 7°C temperature rise.

Alternatively, with more buildings incorporating low or zero carbon (LZC) technologies such as air source heat pumps, to comply with Building Regulations requirements, the heat from the kitchen can be used to supplement these.

To achieve its high efficiencies, the Pollustop runaround coil uses copper tube with aluminium fins, with 400 fins per metre in rows of four or six. It will work effectively with air velocities of up to 2.4m/s at the face of the coil and is supplied complete with drain pan and moisture eliminators
