EMCOR builds in Hampshire and goes on TV

08 July 2009

EMCOR Group (UK) has been awarded a contract by Hampshire County Council for the Castle Complex in Winchester. Meanwhile, it plans to enhance its brand with a TV advertising campaign.

EMCOR Group (UK) has been awarded a £1.5m contract by Hampshire County Council. The new two year contract, with the option to extend for a further two years follows on from a successful six year relationship with the County Council which involved managing the maintenance of buildings in Area A, covering Basingstoke, Andover, and Winchester. The new contract will now involve the provision of hard and soft facilities management services at the Castle Complex, the council’s headquarters in Winchester.

Under the new agreement the scope of work will be extended to include M&E services, building fabric maintenance, and reactive and planned building maintenance, as well as managing a helpdesk facility for hard and soft services. The support services that EMCOR provides will help to support the work of the County Council, as the third largest shire county in the land, in its continued delivery of top quality local services to 1.26 million Hampshire residents.

Mr. David Parker, Divisional Director, EMCOR Facilities Services said, “We are delighted that Hampshire County Council has selected EMCOR to support the delivery of first class services to people who live and work in Hampshire. The success at Hampshire has been achieved through building a successful and genuine collaborative approach, understanding the client’s objectives and goals, and delivering best practice from the private sector into the public arena.”

TV campaign
EMCOR Group has launched its first television and print advertising campaign in its 100 year history, in a move designed to strengthen awareness of the brand in all of its key markets. Demonstrating EMCOR's strength in the marketplace, particularly in education, custodial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, transportation and public sector, the print and broadcast advertising campaign is designed to increase EMCOR's brand awareness and reinforce its position as one of the leading engineering and facilities management companies in the UK. The advertising campaign is also complemented by other elements such as a website re-design, PR, events and direct marketing, making it a fully integrated brand building campaign.

Featuring advertising on the UK business television channels of Bloomberg News and CNBC Europe, in addition to Time Magazine - believed to be firsts in the industry in the UK - the advertisements will reference EMCOR's environmental services and capabilities. EMCOR Group (UK)'s campaign follows the formula for success established by its parent company, EMCOR Group, Inc., which enabled it to build brand awareness up to 95% among its target audience. EMCOR is now a global leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure, and facilities services and has been named the 2009 World's Most Admired Company in the Engineering and Construction Industry by Fortune Magazine, and America's Best Managed Company in the Construction Industry.

"We are strong operationally, and we have an enviable client list, as well as a long track record of successful projects; we also have a reputation for performance, and we are well known for our quality work and positive relationships across both our engineering and facilities management businesses - but as a brand we could be known more widely," commented Mr. Keith Chanter, CEO, EMCOR Group (UK). "This brand building campaign is the largest we've ever undertaken in the UK and will help maintain the momentum we've created in both our marketing programme and our operational business strategy. It's a message to the market that we have no intention of standing still, even during these tough times."
