Pickfords moves into fit-out and refurbishment

25 February 2009

Pickfords Business Moving has expanded its range of business support services by launching a fit-out and refurbishment service for offices and industrial premises.

Pickfords will either serve as the principal contractor and handle all of the fit-out and refurbishment work itself – or it will oversee a client’s fit-out and refurbishment programme on a project management basis, and coordinate the activities of third-party contractors. The new fit-out and refurbishment service will be tailored to meet the needs of organisations of all sizes. It will be available from all of Pickfords’ 60 branch locations throughout the UK and managed through its specialist Transition Management division, Premis.

The new service will be headed by Stuart Thacker, UK head of Premis Transition Management.

Refurbishment services available from Pickfords will include:

Specification tendering, space planning and design
Office partitions, glazing, blinds and doors
Ceilings, flooring and decoration
Voice and data installations
Electrical and mechanical alterations or installations
Dilapidation works, including redecoration and repairs
Supply and installation of office furniture – from a single chair to a full fit-out.

When project managing a refurbishment programme on a client’s behalf, Pickfords will also write the specification, produce designs, liaise with the landlord and building inspectors, and coordinate the tendering process with prospective third-party suppliers.

Pickfords’ managing director Kevin Pickford says: “Adding refurbishment to our Business Moving portfolio is a natural progression for us strategically. For our clients, it means we can give them the flexibility they need in the current economic climate. “We can now uniquely offer clients in all business sectors a full menu of bespoke services from which they can pick and choose, or we can deliver a complete one-stop option – from space design and a full fit-out to physically moving them to their new premises.”

Stuart Thacker says: “Businesses of all sizes will be able to benefit from the fact that Pickfords already has proven expertise in delivering major fit-out and refurbishment projects through its Premis Transition Management division. The process of planning and implementing a refurbishment project can be a difficult and complex process for clients, with many diverse differentials. But our experience with both large and small projects enables us to manage the entire fit-out or refurbishment process - or just part of it - on a client’s behalf and provide advice and support throughout the project.”
