Oliver Jones to give the 'keynote' at Anniversary Legal Update conference

Managing property in the recession will be the topic for the keynote address to be delivered by Oliver Jones at the 10th Anniversary Facilities Management Legal Update Conference and Dinner, 3-4 February 2009

Chief Executive and co-founder of The Asset Factor, Jones' keynote session titled 'The Year Ahead - Managing the Recession' will ask the important question of how FMs will manage their property and FM effectively in the recession, with clear advice on strategies you can implement in your organisation. He will address how the UK's biggest recession for more than 15 years will affect the way 'you manage your assets, your premises and the people in them.'

Other speakers at the conference in Stansted includes the President of IOSH, Chief Executive of the BIFM, Group Legal Director of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, and Chair of the RICS Asbestos Group as well as leading lawyers and workplace practitioners.

Key regulatory issues covered at the conference include:
 Review of the incoming Health and Safety Offences Act 2008..
 Asbestos management: changes to MDHS100 official guidance on asbestos surveying.
 Fire safety: review of BS 9999 'Code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings' which will replace BS 5588.
 Fire safety: review of BS 7273-4 'Code of practice for the operation of fire protection measures' regarding fire control doors and impact on evacuation response times.
 FM contracts: impact of the Draft Construction Contracts Bill.
 Water management: review of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations regarding efficiency targets and preventing contamination.
 Sustainability: review of BS 15686-5:2008 'international standard for property life cycle costing.
